Boise Center Aerospace Laboratory

Welcome to Boise Center Aerospace Laboratory

Idaho State University’s Department of Geosciences Boise Center Aerospace Laboratory (BCAL) was established in 2004 with a grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). BCAL's mission is to provide the Intermountain West with expertise, leadership and coordination of remote sensing research and applications, and to provide education and training programs that promote remote sensing and spatial technologies.

Our training provides students with skills and knowledge in science and technology for professional careers or continued study in all aspects of the geosciences. Our research focuses on image processing, interpretation of remote sensing imagery, integration of global positioning systems and geographic information systems into remote sensing, and understanding spatial, spectral, and temporal scales of landscape processes. BCAL's interdisciplinary focus brings together science and technology in the earth and environmental sciences.

BCAL is located in the Idaho Water Center, Boise, Idaho.
